ABOUT

Susan is a library book hoarder, garlic knot aficionado and out-of-the-closet poet. Her career in brand strategy and community-centered design set her down a path of translating cross-cultural meanings behind everyday objects we interact with, otherwise labeled Semiotics: the study of signs and symbols. Following ten years of delving into cultural patterns behind Korean gifting rituals, Chinese sleeping habits and American skincare routines, she enrolled in The Writer’s Foundry MFA program of St. Joseph’s College to develop her writing practice.

As a Korean-American poet, Susan cherishes her hyphenated identity and pieces together disparate lineages through her writing. Her coordinates for home fall between the US, China and Korea, and she currently resides in DC.
